THE TENOR FRANCESC VIÑAS

Francisco Viñas

Francisco Viñas and Dordal was born in Moià on March 27, 1863 within a very humble family.

Swayed by his father José Viñas to music, he receives some lessons from him and Mn. Ramon Busquets, then organist Moià.

At seventeen he enrolled at the Conservatoire studying singing with maestro Gonzalo Tintorer. Thanks to its progress obtained a scholarship to abandon manual work and devote himself entirely to music.

On 10 July 1887 he was awarded the suitability “to the lyric-dramatic career at the Conservatorio del Liceo, with the qualification of distinction and the medals of silver and bronze.

He was presented to the public for the first time in the Gran Teatro del Liceo spring of 1888, instructed by the master Goula. He sang the second act of Lohengrin, with great success. From there he went to Valencia and so begins a brilliant career. He also performed at La Scala in Milan with Lohengrin.

Thanks to the interest of the queen Victoria, he sang Cavalleria Rusticana in London, opera directed by the own author, the teacher Mascagni. Later he acted in the Metropolitan Opera House of New York and in the cities of Boston, Philadelphia, San-Louis and Chicago. In 1895 he sang for the first time in the Royal Theatre of Madrid.

From his digest of operas, they distinguish those of Wagner: the excellent performance unveiled him as ” The best Lohengrin of the world “.

Tenor Viñas

On December 31, 1913, he premiered Parsifal in Barcelona, being the first theatre of the world that was interpreting this work out of Germany.

In 1918, the tenor ended his official performances, after 30 years of operatic successes for Spain, Europe and America, with the most brilliant career.

At the beginning of 1933, the Liceu and, inside the commemorative festival of Richard Wagner’s death, the Musical Union of Catalonia paid tribute to tenor Vines, creator of the Wagnerian heroes and first interpreter, in Barcelona, the Parsifal, where there was sung 135 performances.

He died in Barcelona on July 14, 1933.

MOIÀ AND THE REGION OF MOIANÈS

moia

Moià is a village of 6.000 inhabitants placed in a small valley of the plateau of the Moianés, surrounded with forests and just 55 km from Barcelona, its port, airport and station of the high-speed train (AVE).

To 700 m of altitude, and thanks to the extension of forest that occupies and surrounds the plateau, the air of these places is pure and healthy.

To 2 kilometres of the centre of the villa we find an airfield and a golf course with excellent views.
